Matriarchs: An Inductive Study of Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, and Leah
$10.00 USD
Have you given much thought to the women we refer to as the Matriarchs? They were chosen by God to give birth to the next generations in whom God would reaffirm His covenant promises that He made to Abraham. After the fall of mankind, God the promised an offspring who would crush the head of the serpent (Genesis 3:15). God appointed these women to be in the genealogy of the seed of Abraham (Galatians 3:16), that is Christ, the Offspring who did crush the head of the serpent at the cross. In Christ, we are all sons and daughters of God, through faith. And if we are Christ’s, we are heirs to the promises that God first made to Abraham (Galatians 3:25-29).
1 Corinthians 11:11-12 says, “Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man nor man of woman; for as woman was made from man, so man is now born of woman. And all things are from God.” The Patriarchs could not produce offspring apart from the Matriarchs. God used these families to continue His covenant promises. They fumbled, stumbled, and had lapses in their faith, but as God says of Sarah in the great recounting of the Heroes of the Faith, Hebrews 11, she considered Him faithful to His covenant promises. This 5-week bible study is intended to point you to the object of their faith, that is Christ. May we consider Him faithful who had promised.
